Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has announced the tentative schedule of State Teacher Eligibility Test (MAHATET). This exam is conducted for the selection of teachers for classes 1-8. The exam is being conducted after a gap of two years and more than 10 lakh candidates are expected to appear in the exam.
Education Minister informed about the schedule by tweeting
In a series of tweets, the Education Minister has said, “Here is an opportunity for candidates aspiring to make a career in teaching. We have given permission to the Maharashtra State Council of Examinations to conduct the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (MAHATET 2021) between 15th September and 31st December.” Granted. Every year, seven lakh candidates appear for the exam. But since the exam has not been conducted since last two years, more than 10 lakh students are expected to appear for the exam this year. There will be an increase in employment opportunities for bright young teaching talent.”
Recruitment will be done in phases for the posts of more than 40 thousand teachers in the state.
Please note that once the exam is qualified, it will be valid for life time. This is the news of relief for the candidates who want to become a teacher. It is worth noting that there are more than 40000 teacher vacancies in the state and the state government has decided to fill the vacancies in phases. 6100 seats will be filled in the first phase.
Let us inform that the first Maharashtra TET was conducted in 2013 and since then this exam has been conducted six times. The previous TET was conducted in 2019 “Due to the pandemic, the exam could not be conducted in January this year. But now after two years, the exam is going to be held between September and December 31. Soon the application process will also start.
