The Delhi government has asked Ambedkar University not to take any action against students who made “indecent remarks” against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia. Though the university had imposed a fine of Rs 5000 on the student, a letter from the AAP government said that the matter should have been brought to the notice of the Chief Minister’s Office first instead of taking immediate action.

Instructions to cancel the fine imposed on the student
The Deputy CM directed the Principal Secretary, Higher Education to ensure that the fine imposed on the girl student is revoked and issue relevant directions to all universities under the Delhi government to ensure that students express their opinion against No action will be taken.
Students have the right to express their opinion and comment
The letter states that, “No student should be punished for exercising the right to freedom of speech within the university. It also states that students are the future of our country and should not be criticized, comment and should be allowed to raise their voices.”
Sisodia calls for freedom of expression
Sisodia said that every student should have the right to freedom of expression. He also said that “if the voice of criticism and dissent cannot be expressed against the political leaders in our country, then we are no longer a democracy but a dictatorship.”
