Ashutosh Kulkarni is originally from Pune, Maharashtra. After doing mechanical engineering, he made up his mind to appear in UPSC. Due to better strategy, he reached the interview round in the very first attempt, but could not make it to the final list. In the second and third attempt also, he missed very close to success. So he worked harder. Eventually his hard work paid off in the fourth attempt and he passed the exam with a good rank.
It is very important to focus on the optional
Ashutosh believes that it is very important to focus on optional subject to get success in UPSC. According to him, before the pre-exam, at least 7-8 months of optional preparation should be done fiercely. If you will be able to get a better grip on Optional, then you can get a better rank. According to him, after studying the optional subject deeply, you can get more marks in it.

Ashutosh’s advice to other candidates
Ashutosh believes that to prepare for UPSC, you should work hard by making a good schedule. When your syllabus is completely covered, start revision by making small notes. Apart from this, analyze your preparation by practicing answer writing and giving mock test papers. He says if you take care of these things, then you can definitely get a good rank in this exam.
