Explain that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has announced that orphaned children or who have lost one of their parents to coronavirus will be provided assistance of five lakh rupees by the state government. Apart from this, the state government will also bear all the expenses of their education till graduation. For the protection of such helpless children, the Chief Minister has given instructions to provide relief to government officials.

The amount along with interest will be given to the child on attaining the age of 18 years. Similarly, 5 lakh rupees will be deposited in the name of children who had already lost one of their mother or father and now have also lost the only parent from COVID. Along with this, priority will be given in providing accommodation to these orphaned children in government homes and hostels.

The CM has said that the government will bear all the expenses including the accommodation of such children till their graduation. In addition, Rs 3 lakh will be provided as immediate relief to the father or mother of the beneficiary child, who has lost his father or mother to coronavirus. At the same time, a monthly allowance of Rs 3,000 will be provided for the care of children growing up with the help of a relative or guardian till the age of 18 years.

Explain that a guidance panel will be constituted with additional chief secretary of finance department, officers of social welfare department and representatives of non-governmental organizations to prepare guidelines for providing the above relief to each child.
