Success Story of IAS Topper Kumar Anurag: Kumar Anurag, who hails from Bihar, fulfilled his dreams by achieving success in the UPSC examination. However, during this time, he also faced many challenges. But he did not put any lack in his preparation for the exam. Kumar Anurag’s academic records were nothing special. Anurag topped the 48th rank in the 2018 UPSC CSE exam by preparing with hard work and dedication. However, he was also selected in its first attempt. But his rank was 677. With which he was not satisfied. Therefore, he continued to prepare for the exam and in the second time he was selected for the post he wanted.

Stay backbencher in college
Anurag got his early education from a Hindi medium school in Bihar. After this, he was sent to another city in the 10th class, where he was admitted to the English Medium School. In such a situation, when he moved from Hindi to English medium, he had some trouble in the beginning but he worked very hard. As a result, he passed 10th standard with more than 90 percent marks. In class XII, he failed in maths in the pre board. But he scored 90 plus in the main examination. Talking of college days, Anurag is always a backbencher. He used to prepare for the exam by photocopying the notes of the toppers. During this time, his bar back also came.

This is the kind of performance in college
Anurag completed his graduation from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi after 12th standard. After this he obtained a master’s degree from Delhi School of Economics. This was a time when he often had to give back papers. The performance of Anurag’s college was worse than the school. Anurag says that he knew that he would definitely become an IAS if he prepared with hard work. With this idea, he started preparing for UPSC. After this he made notes and worked hard. In the year 2017, Anurag was selected in his first attempt. But he again made preparations and performed amazingly with another rank of about 48th.

Anurag’s advice to other candidates
Anurag says that you should have a passion for preparing for this exam. If you have a passion, then you will be charged during the entire journey. He says that the simpler your preparation is, the more chances of success you will have. Plan for this exam and prepare accordingly.
