The 10th board examination in Maharashtra has been canceled due to Corona infection epidemic. On the other hand, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education told the Bombay High Court on Monday, May 17 that how the assessment and marking of Class 10 students will be done in the absence of examination is yet to be decided.
Court challenged the decision to cancel the 10th exam
Explain that the bench of Justice SJ Kathwala and Judge SP Tawde had heard the PIL filed by Prof. Dhananjay Kulkarni. In this petition, the Maharashtra government had challenged the decision of the cancellation of the Class 10 examination in the court. It is worth mentioning that besides Maharashtra Board, a petition has been filed against the cancellation of the 10th exam of CBSE and CISCE apart from Maharashtra Board by Professor Kulkarni.
Advocate Varunjikar, on behalf of Kulkarni, argued that each board will have its own separate formula for evaluating students, due to which students may find it difficult to get admission in the 11th standard. He also said that, ‘the central government should intervene on this matter and a policy should be made for the whole country.’
The central government has issued a notification regarding the evaluation
On behalf of the central government, advocate Sandesh Patil said that the government has some control over CBSE but ICSE and SSC are autonomous, so the central government cannot interfere in their decisions. Patil also told the court that the Central Government has issued a notification in which it has been clearly told what will be the basis of the evaluation of the students. It can also be followed by SSC and ICSE.
Maharashtra Board has not yet decided the formula for evaluation of students
At the same time, advocate Kiran Gandhi in the court on behalf of Maharashtra SSC Board said that this petition has been filed immaturely. No formula has been decided by the SSC Board for the evaluation of 10th class students. It will be decided by the Board’s examination committee and then sent to the government for approval.
Let me tell you that after hearing the arguments of the lawyers, the court has fixed the next hearing on May 19, 2021 on the case.
