Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday set up a committee of Vice Chancellors to review the exam reforms and curriculum. Under the chairmanship of the Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, the committee will submit its report in 60 days. Realizing the need to keep up with the global transformation in education, the Chief Minister also prepared the committee’s plan to bring the education system of the state to the world. The CM also said that new and relevant courses should be identified to ensure that the students are in tune with the changes happening in global education. The Chief Minister also said that new colleges in the state should start classes from 2021-22 academic session.
The Chief Minister also directed the Higher Education Secretary of the state to expedite the recruitment process to fill the 931 posts of Assistant Professor in government colleges.
All the colleges affiliated with the three universities of the state will help
Listing the important initiatives undertaken by the department, Higher Education Secretary VK Meena informed the Chief Minister that online admission of all colleges affiliated to the three universities of the state – Punjab University, Chandigarh, Punjabi University, Patiala and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar The portals will help streamline the functioning of the department for the session 2021-22.
The meeting also noted the recent steps taken by the department, including Rs 100 crore to GNDU, Amritsar and Rs 50 crore to Punjabi University, Patiala, under the National Higher Education Campaign for research, innovation quality improvement and entrepreneurship purposes. Are given.
