Success Story of IAS Topper Varjeet Walia: Today, you will tell the story of Virjit Walia, who became an IAS officer after receiving All India Rank 21 in UPSC Exam 2017. His dream of becoming an IAS was fulfilled in the fourth attempt. In the third attempt, he passed the UPSC examination but his rank was 577. Because of this, he was not selected for the IAS service. In such a situation, he decided to try again and this time he also got success as per his desire. The special thing is that after failing in the first attempt, he changed his optional subject.
How the journey started
Virjeet Walia enrolled in Chemical Engineering after Intermediate. During his graduation, he decided to come to UPSC and sat for the first time after preparing for one and a half years. For the first time, he chose his Optional Subject Sociology at UPSC. When he failed for the first time, he felt that he did not choose the optional subject properly. After this, with physics, he thought of going ahead. However, he did not get success even in the second time.
Success achieved twice in a row
Before the third attempt, Varjit changed his strategy and passed the exam and achieved All India Rank 577. Although he did not get IAS service from this rank, he decided to make another attempt. This time, luck also supported him and he made it to the list of toppers. In this way, his journey to UPSC was completed.

Virgit’s advice to other candidates
Virjeet says that if you get full information about UPSC before starting the preparation, then it will be much better for you. Prepare study material according to your syllabus and put in hard work. Many times people get failure here, but you do not have to be disappointed by it. Rather learn from your failures and move forward. If you work hard continuously, then you will definitely get success.
