AICTE’s big decision, maths, physics and chemistry are no longer mandatory for engineering, read details

All India Council for Technical Education -AICTE 2021: There is a big news for students aspiring for admission in engineering courses. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has now scrapped the recognition of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as a compulsory subject in class XII for admission to engineering courses. Now it will be an elective subject, that is, AICTE has made Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry subjects as optional subjects for admission in engineering courses BE and B.Tech. According to this, now it is not necessary to have these subjects in class 12th.

According to the new rules of AICTE, students will now have to pass class 12th in any of the three subjects out of the following 14 subjects. These 14 subjects are – Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject, Agriculture, Engineering, Graphics Business Studies.

Under the revised rules, students studying in these subjects in class 12 can also take admission in engineering courses BE / B.Tech.. Students wishing to enroll in engineering courses are required to get 45% marks in any three of these 14 subjects, 40% marks for reserved class students.

AICTE has taken this decision to relieve students coming from “diverse backgrounds” to study engineering.
